35 years after the Iron Curtain was demolished, allowing families to unite after 40 years, the leadership of this village is separating them again. They built a roadblock on the border crossing (in Schengen!), and only with special permits can people drive through. But these permits are not given to Hungarians who would go to work through that crossing or who would visit their families on the other side of the border - apparently this is not a good reason. It is also fully against one of the main pillars of the EU - free movement of people and workforce, and in the Schengen Zone, there are no borders control by default. I do not know how this can be possible at all in 2023.

Proof for the xenophobic nature of the leadership of Schattendorf:

That says it all. But again, even the existence of such permits and the roadblock should be fully illegal.
